The Boy Scouts of America offers a climbing badge to Scouts who take their time to master these skills:

  • Learn the Leave No Trace principles and Outdoor Code, and explain what they mean
  • Properly understand and prepare the climbing gear
  • Learn the different types of locations and climbing styles
  • Learn and demonstrate the use verbal signals
  • Learn and demonstrate the use of the rope, several types of knots and harnesses
  • Learn and demonstrate new climbing, rappelling and belaying skills
  • Understand the ways to store and keep their climbing gear in good condition

Many climbing programs are offered at Camp Lavigne. By learning these skills, the Scout will earn his climbing badge while finding new and exciting ways to enjoy the outdoors!
