You are invited to participate in Columbia-Montour’s 2nd Annual Rube Goldberg Challenge® 2015. As you probably know, a Rube Goldberg® machine is a contraption involving several steps to achieve a single discrete task. They are named in honor of their creator, Rube Goldberg, a Pulitzer Prize cartoonist. Here is an example of one of his zany cartoon contraptions:
The Challenge will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Beveridge Family Life Center (gym) of First Baptist Church, Danville. Start time will be 9:00am.
Deadline for registration is March 20, 2015 with a 7-day grace period until March 27. Registration fee before the deadline is $50, and late fee during the grace period is $60. The first 15 teams of up to 4 students who register may participate, and will design, build, and display for judging their creations. The Challenge is open to students in the following grade levels: Grades 1-3, 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Area science and math teachers and scientists will do the judging. This project makes an excellent STEM project, involving problem solving, creativity, teamwork, precision, and a rudimentary application of physics. Above all, they’re fun. And there will be cash prizes for winners.

The Technology Committee along with the Columbia Montour Council is now able to offer Units the ability to host websites for units on the Council Website. The websites do not require technical skills and are easy to update all from your web browser. These websites will be FREE OF CHARGE to units and offer the following pages and functionality to units.
2015 World Scout Jamboree
Eligible Participants must be Registered with the Boy Scouts of America as a Boy Scout or Venturer and have been born between July 27,1997 and July 28,2001. These age ranges are set by the World Organization of the Scouting Movement (WOSM) and are not negotiable.
