Council Calendar

Important Updates

New Council Store Hours. Due to staffing changes at the council, the store will have new hours until further notice. Tuesday and Thursday 10-4, Wednesday 1-7. Please contact the office to make special arrangements and for orders to be charged to unit accounts with pick up in the Council foyer.

The Bloomsburg Fair is offering Scout night at the Bloomsburg Fair raceway on Thursday, June 2nd, to honor our local Scouts from Columbia and Montour Council. All leaders and scouts in uniform will get in for free that night. The race starts at 7pm, gates open at 5pm. You may want to bring ear plugs during certain actual race times, if you desire. That night USAC East Coast Sprint Cars will be racing along with ARDC Midget Cars.

Fall Product Sales Training (June 9, 2022): The training will start at 6:30pm. You can come at 5:30pm for pizza. Register for training and pizza at Product Sales Training Registration or on the council calendar by noon June 9th if coming at 5:30pm. Walk-ins allow for training only. The training is for all popcorn kernels and must be attended by at least one unit representative to be earn an additional 1% commission

The Eagle Scout Recognition Brunch (June 18, 2022) will be at Camp Lavigne in the Dining Hall starting at 8:30 am. Registration is $18/per person. Eagle Scouts from the Class of 2021, their Scoutmasters, and our Honorees attend as a guest. The Columbia Montour Council would be grateful if to anyone who could sponsor one or more of our Eagle Scouts or special guests for $20.00. As a special thank you for each guest sponsored you will receive a limited edition Eagle Scout Class of 2021 Council Shoulder Patch. Wilderness Living program is back this summer at Camp Lavigne July 10th-16th. Come advance your wilderness survival skills to the highest levels! Keep an eye out here on the website for registration. It’s open to all scouts that are at least 14 years old and first class rank. Scouters are welcome too!

Scouts are invited to march in the Memorial Day parade on May 30th and attend the Memorial Day ceremony in Memorial Park. The parade starts forming on West Front Street around 9am. The bridge ceremony kicks off at 10am. The parade starts around 10:15 and marches down Mill St up to Memorial Park.

Upcoming Events

Summer Camp (June/July 2022): Scout resident camp, Cub/Webelos camp, and the Cub Scout Day camp are all open for registration. Registration details can be found by following this link: http://www.columbiamontourbsa.org/Camping/CampingNews/CLRegAd220124

Program launch (June 1, 2022): Program launch will take place at the Lightstreet United Methodist Church on June 1st at 7pm. The launch will highlight this years events, activities, and plans for the year. We will also be revealing the long awaited new website!

Annual Eagle Scout Recognition Ceremony (June 18, 2022): The Eagle Scout Recognition Ceremony will be held at Camp Lavigne on Saturday, June 18th. This event will honor several different individuals such as Dr. Victor Marks and Richard Baker for the Outstanding Eagle Award. There will be many other honorees at this event you won’t want to miss being recognized.

Columbia Montour Council 100th Anniversary Celebration Dinner (June 17, 2023): All are welcome to Celebrate 100 Years of Scouting with Columbia Montour Council at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds Industrial Building starting at 4:00 pm with historic displays followed by dinner at 6:00 and a program at 7:00. Please make your reservations at the Council Service Center by June 2, 2023.

National Jamboree (July 19-28, 2023): 2023 National Scout Jamboree will be held from July 19 to July 28 at the Bechtel Summit Reserve in West Virginia. For more information and registration details visit this link. http://www.columbiamontourbsa.org/News/RegistrationNationalJamboree

Upcoming Due Dates/ Last Days to Register

Upcoming Training Courses (Adult & Youth)

Adult

New Council Training Policy: The new policy in effective 1/1/2022 states that all adults prior to the 2023 rechartering in fall of 2022 must have:

  • Completed YPT that does not expire during the upcoming year (Taken yearly)

  • Completed Position Specific Training associated with their chartered position(s) (Take once, never expires)

  • Completed Hazardous Weather Training if a direct contact leader (Taken every 2 years)

YPT (Youth Protection Training): There will be classroom courses available over the summer at the Council Service Center. Thursday, June 21 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm; Monday, July 18 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm; Saturday, July 23 from 8:00 am to 9:30 am; and Thursday, August 11 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This training is free but please register to attend.

Youth

NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training): NYLT is an exciting, action-packed program designed for councils to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. Susquehanna and Juniata Valley Councils are hosting NYLT in July. Registration ends May 22. For more information and registration visit this link: NYLT Registration
