The dress policy applies to adults, youth, and staff attending any activities or camp at Camp Lavigne.

A. General

1. The wear of appropriate clothing is required at all times in camp. Appropriate clothing must always present a
modest appearance.

2. The normal attire in camp is a shirt (short or long sleeve); shorts, skorts, or pants; and footwear.

3. Articles of clothing which advertise or promote anything that may contradict the values and ideals of
Scouting should be left at home and may not be worn at camp. This includes any clothing or accessories that
have symbols or words which can be construed as obscene, profane, or racially, culturally or religiously
demeaning. This also includes clothing or accessories that present sexual innuendo, unhealthy social ideals,
or depict alcohol or drug use.

4. Shirts

a. All shirts must be waist length (no midriff showing).

b. Scouts are encouraged to wear their Scouting themed T-shirts – sometimes referred to as Class B.

c. Shirts that exhibit slogans or products that are against Scouting principles are not permitted in camp.

d. Tank tops and sleeveless shirts are not permitted in camp, except during aquatic activities.

5. Shorts, Skorts, and Pants

a. All shorts and skorts must be long enough to prevent exposure. Underwear must be worn under shorts
and skorts.

6. Footwear

a. Closed-toe shoes (such as boots, sneakers, or closed toe sandals) are the required footwear in camp,
except at aquatic activities.

b. Open-toe shoes (such as sandals, flip-flops, or crocs) are only permitted in the shower house and pool
areas. Open-toe shoes are not permitted at the boating aquatics area.

B. Uniforms

1. It is recommended that each Scout have a Scout uniform at camp and that the uniform be worn at evening
flag ceremony, dinner, camp-wide campfires, and chapel services. These full uniforms are sometimes referred
to as Class A.

2. The Scout uniform must include at least the Scouts BSA uniform shirt (correctly worn). Individuals that have
access to them are encouraged to wear uniform shorts, skorts, or pants and socks. The Scout neckerchief is
also encouraged as determined by unit policy.

C. Swimwear for aquatic activities

1. Swimsuits should be appropriate to the activity, comfortable, functional, and modest.

2. For males, swim trunks or board shorts are appropriate. Tight fitting swim briefs or swim bottoms short
enough to allow exposure are not allowed.

3. For females, one-piece swimsuits or tankinis with modest coverage are appropriate. Bikinis and monokinis
are not allowed.

4. Swimsuits must be secure enough to not shift or fall off while participating in aquatic activities.

5. Wearing swimsuits around camp, except during participation in aquatic activities, is not allowed. It is
permissible to wear swimsuits between the unit’s campsite and aquatic activities, but a shirt must also be
worn.

6. A T-shirt or additional layer, such as a rash guard top, is allowed for wear with a swimsuit during an aquatic
activity if it does not hinder the safety of the individual, such as hampering movement in the water.

Some reminders and changes to the Knife Policy for Summer Camp:

— Cub Scout summer camp will not be selling knives at the Trading Post this year

— Scouts BSA

• Switchblades, Ballistic, and Butterfly knives are not permitted
• Any spring assisted opening technology knives are not permitted
• Scout knife blades can not be longer than 4 inches
• Scouts must earn and carry BSA Totin’ Chip with them to carry or use a knife, saw, or axe
