YPT and Youth Turning 18 Yr Old

Youth turning 18 yrs old who plan on staying in Scouting as an adult leader or adult participant in Venturing, Sea Scouts, or Exploring, have 30 days to complete adult registration. If not completed within 30 days, must stop all scouting participation until completed. This includes:

  • Fill out an Adult Application with CBC
  • Complete Youth Protection Training (YPT) – online at my.scouting.org
  • Background Clearances – Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse, and Disclosure form or FBI Fingerprinting – Clearance requirements and instruction found at PA Child Protection Services Act on Council Website
  • Leader Position Training – online at my.scouting.org(Not needed for adult participant in Venturing, Sea Scouts, or Exploring)
  • Pay registration fees

Incident Reporting

Safety is the #1 priority for our scouts and scouters. If your unit has an incident, such as a minor or major first aid incident or a near miss (almost an incident that could have resulted in an injury), please fill out an Incident Report and submit to the Council Service Center. While it seem weird to report an incident that didn’t happen, the report states you were aware of the potential incident and how to change the behaviors and actions to make sure it doesn’t occur in the future.

Stem Nova Awards

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) is part of an initiative the Boy Scouts of America has taken on to encourage the natural curiosity of youth members and their sense of wonder about these fields through existing programs. From archery to welding, Scouts can’t help but enjoy the wide range of STEM-related activities. To support this initiative, the BSA developed the STEM Nova Awards program so that youth members have fun and receive recognition for their efforts.

Going Camping?

If you are going to a weekend camp or less than 4 days, you will need to complete the Medical Form A-B. You can download it Short-Term Medical Form.

If you are going to summer camp or any week-long camp, you will need to complete the Medical Form A-B-C. Part C is a physical completed by a doctor. You can download it 4+ Day Medical Form.
